Pool Water Testing Abbotsford
A useful water test starts with a representative sample and an accurate water volume. Palatial uses the result to explain what needs correction, what can wait and when the water should be tested again.

Best sample
Fresh water from elbow depth, away from returns and skimmers

01
Prepare a representative sample
Rinse a clean sample container with pool water first. Collect away from return jets, chemical feeders and the skimmer opening. Bring the sample in promptly and keep it out of direct heat.
02
What the result is used for
The result is interpreted as a connected water system. Sanitiser, pH, buffering, hardness, salt and stabiliser can affect each other and the equipment.
03
What one sample cannot prove
A water test describes the sample at that time. It does not prove that the whole pool is mixed evenly or that the sanitiser system produces correctly under all conditions.
Before you visit
How the Abbotsford shop visit works
Collect
Take a fresh, correctly located sample and record recent additions.
Measure
Test the water values that affect safety, comfort, balance and equipment.
Prioritise
Correct the most important condition first instead of adding several products without an order.
Retest
Allow suitable mixing time, observe the pool and return with a fresh sample when advised.
Important before you travel
Never combine pool chemicals in a sample container. Bring water only. If the pool has just been heavily dosed, record the product, amount and time before collecting the sample.
Shop questions
Common questions
If we can't answer it over the counter, it's because we need to measure the pressure, flow, or electricals at your pool first.
How much water should I bring?+
Bring enough for the required tests in a clean, secure container. A typical small sample bottle is suitable. Do not fill a container that previously held chemicals.
Can I collect water from the top step?+
A shallow edge sample can be affected by surface conditions. Collect from about elbow depth and away from returns, skimmers and chemical dosing points.
Should I add chemicals before bringing the sample?+
Do not add a guessed correction immediately before sampling. If treatment has already been added, note exactly what it was and allow the advised circulation time.
Why does my home test differ from the shop result?+
Sampling position, reagent condition, test method, lighting and timing can change readings. Bring the home result and test details so the difference can be reviewed.
Can a water test tell me whether the chlorinator is broken?+
Not by itself. The result may show low sanitiser or incorrect salt, but output, flow, settings, cell condition and operating time still need checking.
