Overview
A maintenance schedule should respond to weather, water temperature, swimmer load, debris and the installed system. The intervals below are prompts for observation. Manufacturer instructions and measured water results take priority.
Check first
- Confirm the water is clear and the floor is visible before swimming.
- Check water level, skimmer flow, return flow and controller warnings.
- Test the key water values at a frequency suited to temperature and use, with extra checks after heat, rain and heavy swimming.
- Use the clean-filter pressure and normal pump sound as installation-specific baselines.
- Keep a simple record of tests, cleaning, dosing, faults and equipment changes.
Stop and call a technician
- Water clarity changes and does not respond to measured correction.
- A pump, chlorinator, heater or controller displays a recurring fault.
- The filter pressure or return flow changes suddenly.
- Water leaks onto electrical equipment or the pump runs dry.
- Chemistry repeatedly moves out of range despite consistent testing and dosing.
