Experience Naked Freshwater Swimming

The purest, most natural swimming experience available. No chlorine. No harsh chemicals. Just silky-smooth, crystal-clear water that's gentle on skin, eyes, and hair — and kind to the environment.

Swimming the Way Nature Intended

The Naked freshwater pool system uses mineral salts, UV technology, and a specialised filtration process to maintain clear water with very low chemical harshness.

Developed in Australia and trusted by thousands of pool owners, Naked pools use a unique blend of magnesium, potassium, and sodium minerals that work with your body's natural chemistry rather than against it. The result is water that feels softer, looks clearer, and is genuinely better for you.

Palatial Pools is Melbourne's trusted installer and service provider for the Naked freshwater system. We handle everything from initial consultation and installation through to ongoing maintenance and water quality management.

How the Naked System Works

A four-stage process that keeps your water pristine without a single drop of chlorine

1

Mineral Blend

A formulated blend of magnesium, potassium, and sodium minerals forms the basis of the Naked water chemistry and helps discourage algae and bacteria growth.

2

UV Sanitation

High-intensity UV light destroys 99.9% of pathogens, viruses, and bacteria as water passes through the UV chamber — no chemical residue left behind.

3

Ozone Treatment

Ozone gas (O₃) provides a powerful secondary oxidation stage, breaking down organic contaminants and keeping water crystal clear.

4

Smart Monitoring

The Naked system continuously monitors water quality parameters and automatically adjusts mineral dosing to maintain perfect balance 24/7.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Naked pool truly chemical-free?
The Naked system uses a blended mix of mineral salts (magnesium, potassium, sodium) rather than chlorine or bromine. It is not 100% chemical-free in the strictest sense — minerals are still part of water chemistry — but it contains no chlorine, no harsh oxidisers, and no synthetic chemicals. The mineral blend is naturally occurring and generally gentle on skin, eyes, and the environment.
How much does a Naked pool conversion cost?
Conversion costs depend on your pool size, existing equipment, and which Naked package is most appropriate. Most residential conversions range from $2,800 to $5,500 installed. We provide a detailed written quote after the on-site assessment — there are no surprises. Call 03 4231 POOL to discuss your specific situation.
Can any pool be converted to Naked?
The vast majority of existing pools can be converted to the Naked system. The main requirements are a functioning circulation pump and adequate filtration. We assess each pool individually and will let you know upfront if there are any compatibility issues. Pools with certain types of surface finishes or older equipment may require minor upgrades before conversion.
Is a Naked pool safe for children and pets?
Yes — Naked pools are actually considered safer for children and pets than traditional chlorine pools. The absence of chlorine means no risk of chlorine-related skin or eye irritation, no chemical smell, and no accidental ingestion of chlorinated water. The mineral blend used is food-grade and safe for all ages.
How does the running cost compare to chlorine?
Initial installation costs are higher than a standard chlorinator, but ongoing running costs are typically lower. You eliminate the need to purchase chlorine, shock treatments, and many balancing chemicals. Most Naked pool owners report saving $300–$600 per year on chemicals compared to their previous chlorine pool. The system also tends to extend the life of pool surfaces and equipment.
Do I need to do anything differently to maintain a Naked pool?
Day-to-day maintenance is similar to a standard pool — regular brushing, skimming, and backwashing. The key difference is that instead of adding chlorine, you monitor mineral levels and top up the Naked mineral blend as needed (typically every 3–6 months). The system handles most of the water chemistry automatically. We provide full training at handover and are always available to answer questions.
